We saw these seagulls fighting over what we first thought was a piece of kelp. Then we saw the object of the fight was thrashing around like mad. It turned out to be an eel! Kelp does not thrash! The fight did not last long. Once the seagulls separated the winning seagull swallowed it whole! The only way the seagulls could have grabbed an eel is if it was swimming. This could have been due to the low tides. If the eel’s hiding place in the rocks was exposed and it was looking for another place to hide it would have been out in the open. Guess that did not work out so well for the eel……
