Knobby Star

This is a Knobby Star. It is a sea star that got its name from all the little knobs all over. We don’t see many of them in the tidepools. So this was a treat. In the early morning light it seemed to glow. They are predators who love mussels. They only have to open the shell wide enough for them to put their stomachs inside the shell and digest the mussel. Then it will pull its stomach back in its body. Seeing this one was a real treat!
